Electric Power Recliner Repair

When Your Favorite Seat Stops Cooperating, Call Us

We’ve all been there.

You hit the button to settle in for the big game and… nothing. Or maybe it went up (or worse, halfway up), stopped, and now you’re stranded in your own living room. If you’ve obstinately tried pressing the button more times and realize that your disgruntled exhortations aren't working, take a deep breath.

Don't start shopping yet. At MasterTech Furniture Repair, we diagnose and fix motorized recliners, power sofas, sectionals, and lift chairs throughout Pinellas County. We get that comfy seat working like new for a whole lot less than the price of a brand-new one.

Certified Troubleshooting on the First Visit

The world of modern power furniture can be daunting. Between the multiplicity of switches, transformers, control boxes, actuators, and power cords made across different countries, finding the exact point of failure requires a specialist.

Fortunately, there is enough commonality across major brands that we carry virtually all standard electrical replacement parts—including heavy-duty motors, switches, transformers, power cords, and control boxes—right on our truck at all times.

When Grant arrives at your home in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, or Largo, he won't just guess at the problem. He’ll test the electrical continuity from the wall outlet all the way to the motor to find the exact issue and, in most cases, fix it right then and there.

Common Electric Recliner Problems We Fix Daily

    • The Motor Stuttered and Quit: If your chair makes a clicking noise but won't move, or if it died silently mid-recline, the linear actuator motor may have burned out. We stock standard replacements to swap them safely.
    • Goes Up But Won't Go Down (Or Vice-Versa): This is incredibly common and usually indicates a failed toggle switch, a bad remote control, a motor out, or a short circuit in the wiring mechanism.
    • Pinched or Severed Power Cords: Because recliners move, power cords easily get trapped, crushed, or severed inside the scissor mechanisms underneath the frame. We safely replace damaged wiring and route them out of harm's way.
    • Lift Chair Failures: For those who rely on lift chairs for daily mobility, a breakdown is an emergency. We prioritize lift chair diagnostics to restore your independence safely and quickly.
    • Custom Workarounds: If your chair is an older model and the original part is completely discontinued on the aftermarket, Grant can often interchange components or engineer a safe workaround to keep your treasured chair operational.
    • Broken Springs: If the world is suddenly looks crooked, it's probably your chair.  There are two types of springs in your recliner. The springs we can repair are the spiral springs with hooks on the end. So, if you find a spring under your chair, hang on to it. Before we come, we can be sure to have the right spring on the truck and fix it in one trip.
